By The beginning of the current term of the House of Representatives saw Nancy Pelosi finally give up her firm grip over the Democratic caucus rather than be tossed overboard by her colleagues.
Democrats wanted a new, younger leader and chose Hakeem Jeffries from New York. The New York Times called the new man in charge. “A lawyer and disciplined tactician,” and he became the first Black politician to lead either party in Congress.
When he took over the Democrats, Jeffries was attacked for antisemitic connections through his uncle Leonard Jeffries, a Black Studies professor who was eventually fired for his bigotry.
Leonard Jeffries, the current Democratic leader’s uncle, “delivered a speech in 1991 during which he claimed to have knowledge of ‘a conspiracy, planned and plotted and programmed out of Hollywood by people called Greenberg and Weisberg and Trigliani,’ to portray African-Americans poorly in movies.
‘Russian Jewry had a particular control over the movies, and their financial partners, the Mafia, put together a financial system of destruction of black people,’ argued the elder Jeffries, who at various points referred to Jews as ‘dogs’ and ‘skunks,’ and was eventually relieved of his position as a professor at City University of New York as a result of his statements,” said Mediate.
The minority leader has insisted he only had a “vague recollection” of the incidents involving Uncle Leonard. “‘When a lot of the controversy took place and my brother and I were away at school. There was no Internet during that era and I can’t even recall a daily newspaper in the Binghamton, N.Y., area but it wasn’t covering the things that the New York Post and Daily News were at the time,’ explained Jeffries in 2013.”
CNN has shown this to be a complete lie, reporting, “‘Dr. Leonard Jeffries and Minister Louis Farrakhan have come under intense fire,’ wrote [Hakeem] Jeffries in February 1992. ‘Where do you think their interests lie? Dr. Jeffries has challenged the existing white supremist educational system and long standing distortion of history. His reward has been a media lynching complete with character assassinations and inflammatory erroneous accusations.’
In February 1992, Hakeem Jeffries was a senior at Binghamton University in upstate New York and a board member of the Black Student Union. The BSU extended an invitation for the embattled professor to speak on campus for an undisclosed fee, drawing outrage from some students on campus and members of the Jewish Student Union. The BSU said the profits from the event would go to a foundation in an honor of a student killed in an auto accident.
After a Jewish student group called on the BSU to cancel the professor’s speaking engagement, Jeffries led a news conference defending his uncle and his speaking engagement.
“We have no intention of canceling a presentation that contains factual information, proven through scholarly documents and texts,” read Hakeem Jeffries from a statement reported in the student newspaper the Pipe Dream. “The proper way to way to debate scholarship is with scholarship–not with high-tech lynchings, media assassinations, character desecrations and venomous attacks.”
The Democratic House leader has also been accused of racism because he “compared black conservatives to ‘House Negroes’ during American slavery, calling them ‘tokens’ and ‘opportunists.’
‘The House Negro of the slavery era and the Black conservative of today are both opportunists interested in securing some measure of happiness for themselves within the existing social order,’ Jeffries wrote according to the Washington Free Beacon.
Fox News noted that “in one subsection of the article labeled ‘White Media,’ Jeffries specifically targeted Thomas, Powell and Shelby Steele, an author and senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.
‘Perhaps the most frightening aspect of the rise of Black conservatives is that of their popular acceptance by the predominantly white media,” Jeffries wrote. ‘Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, and Shelby Steele are hailed as our leaders and pointed to as examples for us to follow. I find it suspect when the white power structure and their propaganda emissaries, the media, tell us who our leaders should be. Do you think that a ruling elite would promote individuals who seek to dismantle their vice-like grip on power? Of course not.'”
The report follows on the heels of the first Black senator elected from the Deep South since Reconstruction, conservative Republican Tim Scott, announced that he was running for president in 2024.
Both Scott and conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas have received racist scorn from Democrats because they will not adhere to liberal orthodoxy solely because of their race.
Last June, for example, Hillary Clinton launched into a vile and racist rant against Thomas during an interview.
