A conservative speaker at San Francisco State University was held hostage by leftwing protestors and physically attacked following a speech she gave last Thursday.
Riley Gaines, a former swimmer at the University of Kentucky and outspoken advocate for women’s sports, has been making the rounds speaking about how competing against biological men is undermining female athletes.
Fox News writes, “While Gaines spoke to the students, many of whom expressed opposition to her viewpoints, other footage from the event showed the swimmer’s remarks being drowned out by a group of pro-trans protesters who had become increasingly loud outside the room.
“Tonight, Riley Gaines spoke at San Francisco State University to share her personal story of competing against a biological male athlete, Lia Thomas, at the Women’s NCAA Swimming Championships last year,” Eli Bremer, Gaines’ agent, said to Fox News Digital in a lengthy statement.
“In the past year, her goal in speaking at universities has been to educate her peers about her experience and what the impact of the growing number of biological males in women’s sports will do to the integrity of Title IX. She has been questioned in civil and somewhat uncivil manners about her views many times, and she thoroughly encourages diverse viewpoints and debate on this issue.
“Instead of a thoughtful discussion tonight at SFSU, Riley was violently accosted, shouted at, physically assaulted, and barricaded in a room by protestors. It is stunning that in America in 2023, it is acceptable for biological male students to violently assault a woman for standing up for women’s rights.”
Video of the attack was posted online.
The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces.
Still only further assures me I'm doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder. 🗣️ pic.twitter.com/uJW3x9RERf

The activists also demanded money or they would hold the speaker hostage.

The New York Post writes that “swimmer Riley Gaines says she was “ambushed and physically hit” and forced to barricade for three hours from a mob of trans-rights protesters who stormed her speech about protecting women’s sports.
The 12-time All-American champ — a former competitor of controversial trans swimmer Lia Thomas -— shared alarming footage of cops hustling her to safety late Thursday at San Francisco State University.
“Why are you running!” one of the protesters yells gleefully — before a short-haired activist jumps in front of her to scream abuse.
“Yeah you f—ing transphobic b—h — I f–ing see you!” the deranged-sounding activist screams as Gaines tries to escape down a hallway.
Gaines’ footage — as well as other clips shared on social media — show security and university staff blocking the angry mob from following the distressed guest speaker as she’s taken to a safe room at 8;30 p.m..”
San Francisco State University received $14,362,954 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The attack on Gaines is another example of how leftwing activists have shut down speech on many campuses across the country and getting violent with those whom they disagree has become more and more common, especially as its become tolerated, and in some cases, even encouraged, by radical faculty members.
Last month a professor in Michigan received paid leave for advocating violence against conservative speakers. A self-proclaimed Marxist, Professor Steven Shaviro posted a message online that said that it was “it is far more admirable to kill a racist, homophobic, or transphobic speaker than it is to shout them down.”
At Stanford University, considered a premier institution, a DEI dean at the law school riled up a mob to attack a conservative judge. The Washington Examiner has argued that the incident should lead to Stanford Law losing its accreditation.
“Many reasons exist for the recent free speech debacle at Stanford Law School, where students shouted down Kyle Duncan, a federal appeals court judge, at a Federalist Society student chapter event. American higher education’s growing intolerance of free speech certainly played a role in nurturing a culture in which law students feel free to yell and scream at a sitting jurist. The students themselves bear personal responsibility for their shameful conduct. And, despite knowing that protests were likely, the school’s administration failed to take precautions to ensure that Duncan could give his remarks.
Tirien Steinbach, the school’s associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion , warrants special attention for her disgraceful behavior in this controversy. Indeed, when Duncan called for an administrator to intervene to allow him to talk, Steinbach read prepared remarks and asked, “Is the juice worth the squeeze?” — i.e., is allowing Duncan to speak worth the “pain” his remarks would cause? It’s likely Steinbach played a role in orchestrating the confrontation in the first place. And as a result, the judge left the event without having an opportunity to speak.
Although Stanford Law School is a private institution, it claims to maintain policies that uphold campus free speech and academic freedom and prohibit disruptions of campus events. On its website, Stanford University prominently displays its long-standing Fundamental Standard , which has required students since 1896 to respect the rights of others and “to uphold the integrity of the university as a community of scholars in which free speech is available to all and intellectual honesty is available to all.” The Fundamental Standard protects speech, even speech that is objectionable to some. The school incorporated the Fundamental Standard in its own policies, along with the university campus disruptions policy. Clearly, Steinbach knew that these policies should have governed the Federalist Society event with Duncan.
Stanford Law has clearly violated these accreditation standards. The school failed to follow its own Fundamental Standard and campus disruptions policy, which it advertises to applicants, students, faculty, and the general public on its website. Not only did Stanford Law allow a rude and unruly mob to silence an invited speaker, but one of its administrators cheered on that mob as it trampled Duncan’s right to speak and disrupted the Federalist Society’s event.”
We asked this before, but we’ll ask it again: why are taxpayers obligated to pay for the salaries of those who would undermine democratic values like free speech?
