Right after serving as vice president, Joe Biden met with the chairman of the Chinese energy firm CEFC at the Four Seasons in Washington in 2017. The meeting took place shortly after the energy company paid his son’s firm $3 million, according to newly released testimony from the House Oversight Committee.
The president insisted that he never spoke about any of Hunter’s overseas business.

Chairman James Comer team interviewed former Hunter business associate Rob Walker as part of the ongoing House impeachment inquiry.
The National Review writes that Walker testified before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees on January 26 about his role in Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings with Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC.
Walker received roughly $3 million from CEFC in March 2017 through its State Energy HK account, bank records show. He recalled a meeting between Joe Biden and CEFC officials in spring 2017, around the time of the State Energy HK payment.
“Did Joe Biden ever attend any location or meeting or place where CEFC officials were also there?” a staffer asked Walker, according to a transcript of the interview released Tuesday morning.
“Yes,” Walker replied. He recalled the meeting took place in Washington, D.C., and Joe Biden, who had just left office as vice president, stopped by for lunch.
“I don’t know the exact — it was 20- probably -17 at some point, but I don’t know exactly when,” Walker said.
Walker claimed the objective of the meeting was to discuss “ways we could work together.”
Part of the meeting involved making sure that the other Biden’s got paid, apparently. “Hunter Biden allegedly told Walker to send payments to his uncle James Biden and sister-in-law Hallie Biden, even though they did not do work for the CEFC entity,” a source familiar told The Daily Caller.
Fox News reports that “Walker testified that Biden addressed the entire group—which consisted of approximately 10 CEFC-linked individuals— during his visit.
Walker testified that the visit, and Biden’s appearance, ‘likely’ took place before his Robinson Walker LLC received $3 million from State Energy HK Limited—a CEFC-linked entity.
Walker did, however, say that early correspondence to CEFC was sent on behalf of the group—which included himself, James Gilliar, Jim Biden, and Hunter Biden—by Hunter Biden.
‘He had an interesting last name that would probably get people in the door,’ Walker said. “Because he’s the son of the vice president at the time, correct?’ Walker was pressed.
‘He is the son of a vice president at the time, yes,’ Walker replied.”
The payment was a “thank you” for work conducted during Biden’s vice presidency, Walker told lawmakers, according to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer.
“The Chinese company paid Hunter Biden and his associates $3 million shortly after Joe Biden left office as a ‘thank you’ for the work they did while Joe Biden was in office. Members of the Biden family received payments from the Chinese deal even though they did not work on it,” Comer said in a readout.
The New York Post noted that this was not the first time Joe had allegedly met the Chinese leader. “Former Biden family associate Tony Bobulinski previously alleged that he met the now-president twice in connection with the enterprise.
Ahead of the second and final presidential debate of 2020, Bobulinski said at a press conference: “On May 2, 2017, the night before Joe Biden was to appear at the Milken conference, I was introduced to Joe Biden by Jim Biden and Hunter Biden. At my approximately hour-long meeting with Joe that night, we discussed the Bidens’ history [and] the Bidens’ family business plans with the Chinese, with which he was plainly familiar, at least at a high level.”
Later, Bobulinski told then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson that he met again with Joe Biden the next day.
‘We were backstage in a cramped space and he asked me to walk with him out to the car … He sort of asked me to keep an eye on his son and brother,’ Bobulinski told Carlson.”
Bobulinski told Comer on Tuesday that Joe Biden was “an enabler” of several of his family’s overseas business schemes that “sold out to foreign actors who were seeking to gain influence and access to the former vice president and the United States government.”
He also claimed to have gone to the FBI but was apparently ignored in an alleged effort to downplay Biden’s corruption.

He also famously identified the current president as “the Big Guy” who would receive 10 percent of all of Hunter’s earnings.
Biden and the Democrats have insisted that the president has done nothing wrong and, despite growing evidence to the contrary, claim that Republicans have not revealed proof of Biden’s corruption.
I’ve been assured this is okay because Republicans haven’t produced a check with “Bribe for Joe Biden” in the memo line https://t.co/Qd9jkQU3g8
