By Last week, New Conservative Post reported that Ronna Romney McDaniel, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee, had cashed out for a job paying $300,000 a year at MSNBC.
The New York Times explained that “the hire adds a reliably conservative voice to NBC’s stable of political analysts. Ms. McDaniel is also expected to provide commentary on MSNBC, NBC’s left-leaning cable cousin and a network that former President Donald J. Trump and his allies often accuse of being an arm of the Democratic Party.
“It couldn’t be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna’s on the team,” Carrie Budoff Brown, who oversees NBC News political coverage, wrote in a memo, adding that Ms. McDaniel would provide “an insider’s perspective on national politics and the future of the Republican Party.” Ms. McDaniel will be especially involved in the coverage of the 2024 campaign, including election nights.”
She lasted less than a week before liberals at the network, with “Meet the Press” anchor Chuck Todd leading the way, panicked and staged a revolt against her hire.
Now it looks like she’s going to be fired after other network stars followed Todd’s lead.
NBC News plans to drop former Republican National Committee boss Ronna McDaniel as a paid contributor after network stars including MSNBC primetime headliner Rachel Maddow and the co-hosts of “Morning Joe” blasted the decision to bring the Trump-backing politico on board, according to a report by The New York Post.
Earlier on Tuesday, The Wall Street Journal and Variety reported that NBC News executives were meeting to discuss what to do with McDaniel in the face of public opposition from network stars.
Maddow, MSNBC’s most bankable name, demanded on her Monday show that NBC executives “reverse their decision” to hire McDaniel.
“The fact that Ms. McDaniel is on the payroll at NBC News, to me that is inexplicable,” Maddow said during Monday’s broadcast of her weekly primetime show.
NBC has not yet made the announcement official, but according to Puck News, the call has already been made.
The protests at the liberal network revealed just how hypocritical the left has become when their anchors talk about “misinformation” and “gaslighting,” as Todd did.
In the spring of 2022, MSNBC, for example, hired Jen Psaki, the former Biden press secretary, to be a show host. In a statement at the time, NBC News said the White House flak would “bring together her unique perspective from behind the podium and her deep experience in the highest levels of government and presidential politics.”
Psaki, like McDaniel, always toed the party line when doing her job for the president, often telling half-truths, or even all out lies, to protect Biden from criticism.
In 2021, for example, Psaki was called out for lying about Biden’s debacle in Afghanistan. The New York Post wrote, “The truth doesn’t mind being questioned, but a lie doesn’t like to be challenged: White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki offered a fine example of that observation Wednesday by refusing to discuss that damning July 23 phone call — leaked audio of which shows President Joe Biden knew well in advance that Afghanistan’s army was falling before the Taliban and that the situation was dire.
‘The perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan, I believe, is that things aren’t going well in terms of the fight against the Taliban,’ he told Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. ‘And there’s a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture.’
Truth be damned! Biden needed his pullout to seem safe.
Ghani, meanwhile, warned that Afghanistan faced ‘a full-scale invasion, composed of Taliban, full Pakistani planning and logistical support and at least 10-15,000 international terrorists.’ Weeks later, on Aug. 15, the Taliban took Kabul.”
Psaki’s lie was further revealed just last week when two generals testified that Biden was warned about the dangers of withdrawal, which led to 13 American soldiers being killed.
“Retired Marine Gen. Frank McKenzie, former commander of the U.S. Central Command, and retired Gen. Mark Milley, former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, out of uniform and sporting gray hair and dark suits, were still constrained from revealing their conversations with President Joe Biden but made clear they believed then, and still believe now, that abandoning Afghanistan, and in particular the way the withdrawal was carried out, was a mistake that had deadly consequences, writes The Washington Examiner.
“While there were dozens of decisions that led up to the debacle at the Abbey Gate of Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, where on August 26, 2021, an ISIS-K suicide bomber killed 13 American service members and 170 Afghans, McKenzie placed much of the blame for the chaos on Biden’s decision not to evacuate American diplomats and civilians, along with Afghan allies, at the same time U.S. troops were leaving.
‘I believe that the events of mid- and late August of 2021 were the direct result of delaying the initiation of the NEO [noncombatant evacuation operation] for several months, in fact, until we were in extremis and the Taliban had overrun the country,’ McKenzie told the House Foreign Affairs Committee. ‘The decision to begin an NEO rests with the Department of State, not the Department of Defense. We had begun positioning forces in the region as early as July 9, but we could do nothing, nothing to commence the operation, the evacuation until the NEO was declared.’”
During the 2020 campaign, Psaki also pushed the lie that the Hunter Biden laptop was “Russian misinformation.”

In The Spectator, Stephen Miller explained that “there are no good guys at NBC.”
“McDaniel’s hiring simply could not stand with the elite of MSNBC like Chuck Todd, Joe Scarborough and Nicolle Wallace (all former political operatives) as they issued on-air apologies over NBC management to hire someone so closely attuned to a political party they don’t belong to.
Jen Psaki would like a word. While she was sitting White House press secretary, she signed a lucrative on-air contributor deal with MSNBC, NBC News and NBC’s Peacock streaming service. It was unprecedented — a sitting White House press secretary taking questions from her contractual colleagues was a clear violation of ethical conduct between a supposedly independent press and the White House they are meant to be covering.
There was no hand-wringing. There was no public uproar. There were no on-air apologies or brow beatings. Jen Psaki was welcomed at NBC with open arms — and zero hint of hypocrisy.
Likewise, MSNBC played a major part in rehabbing the reputation of controversial race-baiter Al Sharpton, even rewarding him with own show to host. Once again, not a peep.”
For her part, Psaki pretended to be outraged by the comparison to Ronna Romney McDaniel, saying at the start of her show, “I got into public service for the same reason many people do, to serve the American people.”
“Those qualities are especially important right now at a time when our institutions are under attack and when our democracy is in danger,” she continued. “And our democracy is in danger because of the lies that people like Ronna McDaniel have pushed on this country.”
That didn’t answer the pressing question though:

The debacle at NBC News serves as a great reminder that “defending democracy” and “misinformation” really depends on whether or not you’re doing it in support of a Democrat.
