Joe Biden’s mistakes are beginning to add up, and even liberal outlets are beginning to notice on a regular basis.
The Huffington Post recently reported that “President Joe Biden’s effort to improve voters’ view of his mental fitness took a hit when the White House corrected numerous errors from a recent speech.”
It’s become clear that Biden’s ailing mental state is undermining his ability to lead and communicate and at least one political commentator thinks that the constant corrections are revealing that the president’s time might be up.
Biden made multiple confusing comments and flubbed words while speaking to the civil rights organization in Michigan the night before. One notable one included his suggestion he was vice president during the COVID-19 pandemic, which began nearly four years after he left office, according to Fox News.
“When I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic,” Biden said near the beginning of his remarks. “And, what happened was Barack [Obama] said to me: ‘Go to Detroit — help fix it.’”
The next day, the White House’s correction implied that Biden intended to say “recession,” referencing the Great Recession when he assumed the vice presidency in 2009.
“And when I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic [recession], and what happened was Barack said to me, ‘Go to Detroit and help fix it.’ Well, poor mayor, he spent more time with me than he ever thought he was going to have to,” the transcript reads.
Other fixed gaffes included Biden claiming that families saved $800,000 per year from the Affordable Care Act, insisting that he’s fighting corporate landlords who “keep rents down” and incorrectly calling the group “the NAAC.”
Fox News host and comedian Greg Gutfield noted that the growing corrections from the White House could signify that the president’s “number might be up.”
Biden has been fighting the notion that he’s too old and too senile for a second term, from both Republicans and some Democrats.
While some Republicans believe that the president was forced to change his mind and debate Donald Trump to allow Democrats to dump him after he gets destroyed by the former president, it was likely because of the opposite reason.
Earlier in the year, rumors circulated that the party would try to dump the president for Michelle Obama in May 2024, and sure enough, this month, as his polling numbers have continued to crater.
By changing his mind, however, and holding a debate in June, Biden likely squashed an Democratic uprising against him. In putting one debate in June and the other in September, Biden effectively hindered his Democratic critics, giving them less time to organize a push to dump the “well meaning elderly man with memory problems.”
Biden has consistently trailed former President Trump in polling, writes America’s News Desk, “In a national survey released on Friday, former President Trump defeated his chief general election rival, President Biden, by two points.
In the most recent Emerson College poll, Trump secured 46 percent of the support of U.S. voters, surpassing Biden’s 44 percent. This resulted in a narrow lead within the margin of error.
Approximately 10 percent of the respondents were uncertain.”
