By Hunter Biden is probably going to want to avert his eyes during testimony in his gun felony case.
Special prosecutor David Weiss intends to call three former “romantic partners” of the president’s son in a few weeks.
The Washington Examiner learned that Weiss believes that the three women will serve as experts on Hunter’s character and that their testimony promises to be quite revealing.
The expected prosecution witnesses in Biden’s trial include his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle; Lunden Roberts, an Arkansas woman with whom he had a daughter; and Beau Biden’s widow, Hallie Biden, whom he also dated.
Prosecutors say one witness, who is believed to be Hallie Biden, will testify that President Joe Biden‘s son was in possession of a revolver in 2018 and that she took it from his car and placed it into a dumpster near a grocery store in Wilmington, Delaware.
Roberts’s testimony is also expected to be used to divulge Hunter Biden’s chronic crack cocaine use around the time of his possession of the gun. Prosecutors say she “observed the defendant using crack cocaine frequently — every 20 minutes except when he slept,” according to a court filing that does not name her specifically.
“The government intends to show videos and photographs of the defendant smoking crack, or of crack or drug paraphernalia in videos/photographs backed up to the defendant’s Apple iCloud account or laptop, or sent in the defendant’s messages,” prosecutors wrote.
Two of the three women directly prospered from Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings.
In 2023, despite working as a school counselor, the House Oversight Committee revealed that Hallie Biden received a massive check from a Chinese energy company working with Hunter Biden.
The committee’s chairman, James Comer, said at the time that “the oversight committee is concerned about the national security implications resulting from President Biden’s family receiving millions of dollars from foreign nationals. We will continue to follow the money trail and facts to determine if President Biden is compromised by his family’s business schemes and if there is a national security threat.”
Lunden Roberts had previously been placed on the payroll of Hunter’s company while she was pregnant before being unceremoniously dumped after giving birth to his child.
She previously came into conflict with the president’s family after she sued to allow Hunter’s daughter to take the Biden name. For years, the “family man” and “living grandfather” Joe Biden refused to acknowledge his granddaughter, sparking calls of hypocrisy from his critics.
CNN noted that “The president’s son has pleaded not guilty to three crimes in the gun case, all stemming from Weiss’ claim that he was abusing drugs while he purchased and briefly possessed a revolver in 2018, which is against federal law.
These revelations about Weiss’ trial strategy and witness list underscore the extremely personal nature of this case, which will shine a national spotlight on what Hunter Biden has said was his rock bottom.
Hunter Biden has been very open about his lifelong struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. But to win a conviction, Weiss will need to bring that addiction to life for the jury, with compelling witnesses and photographic evidence, to prove in court that Hunter Biden was abusing drugs when he owned the gun.
The filing from prosecutors also includes scores of text messages they say are from Hunter Biden, including images of drugs, as well as messages about sobriety and meeting with drug dealers.”
The trial is scheduled to begin on June 3 in Wilmington, Delaware.
In September of last year, special counsel Weiss indicted Biden, alleging that he provided false information about his drug use on a federal form to acquire a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver in 2018. This was after Biden openly admitted in his memoir, Beautiful Things, that he struggled with drug addiction during that period. Despite owning the firearm for 11 days and never using it, according to his attorneys.
