Throughout his presidency, The Atlantic noted, Barack Obama loved claiming he was on “the right side of history” that it became a trope of the left the liberal outlet came to criticize.

Since then, the president has repeatedly deployed a series of phrases—especially ‘the right side of history’ and ‘the wrong side of history’—that suggest a tortured, idealistic, and ultimately untenable vision of what history is and how it works.”
Biden and his followers, too, have followed suit, claiming that everything from their attacks against the Supreme Court and the violence during the summer of 2020 were just because “they stood on the right side of history,” writes Fox News.
Now, another world leader has confirmed that he believes that the anti-Israel, pro-terrorism student protesters that have engulfed the United States over the past few months are also “right.”
The Supreme Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, hailed American college students who have protested the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, applauding that they were “standing on the right side of history.”
“Dear university students in the United States of America, you are standing on the right side of history,” Khamenei wrote in a X post.
The post was part of a lengthy letter the Supreme Leader penned to American college students, praising them for their anti-Israel protests, explained Fox News.
“You have now formed a branch of the Resistance Front and have begun an honorable struggle in the face of your government’s ruthless pressure – a government which openly supports the usurper and brutal Zionist regime,” he wrote in the letter.

The entire letter would be shocking if it didn’t sound exactly like the professors and protesters who hate Israel and support its destruction.
“The greater Resistance Front which shares the same understandings and feelings that you have today, has been engaged in the same struggle for many years in a place far from you,” Khamenei wrote. “The goal of this struggle is to put an end to the blatant oppression that the brutal Zionist terrorist network has inflicted on the Palestinian nation for many years.”
Khamenei also noted that “The global Zionist elite… owns most US and European media corporations or influences them through funding and bribery,” hitching a ride on the age-old antisemitic trope that Jews control the media.
“The support and solidarity of your professors is a significant and consequential development. This can offer some measure of comfort in the face of your government’s police brutality and the pressures it is exerting on you,” he wrote.
Khamenei concluded by saying, “I would like to assure you that today the circumstances are changing. A different fate awaits the important region of West Asia. The people’s conscience has awakened on a global scale, and the truth is coming to light.
Moreover, the Resistance Front has grown in strength and will become even stronger.
And history is turning a page.”
While Biden, his staff, and the anti-Israel wing of his party have their differences, at least they can both share the fact that the mullahs of Iran love them.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader since 1989, has created a highly oppressive regime marked by significant political and human rights abuses. Political freedom is severely limited, with only regime-approved candidates allowed to run for office, stifling genuine competition. Opposition figures face imprisonment or house arrest, as seen with Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi. Freedom of expression is curtailed, with independent media censored, and journalists, bloggers, and activists frequently arrested. Religious and ethnic minorities, like Baha’is and Kurds, face systemic discrimination, while cultural and artistic expressions are tightly controlled.
Economic mismanagement and corruption under Khamenei have led to widespread economic hardship, with high inflation and unemployment. Labor movements are repressed, with independent unions banned and protesting workers often facing arrest. Protests are met with violent crackdowns, such as during the 2009 Green Movement and the 2019 fuel price protests, where security forces used live ammunition and mass arrests, resulting in hundreds of deaths. The regime employs extensive surveillance to monitor and intimidate dissenters, creating an environment where fundamental freedoms are denied and political dissent is ruthlessly suppressed.

The letter comes as yet another antisemtic attack has gripped two North American cities. In Montreal, a gunman shot up a Jewish school and in New York City, a Middle Eastern driver shuted “I’m going to kill all the Jews” as he “tried to mow down Orthodox students and a rabbi outside a Brooklyn Jewish school Wednesday while allegedly yelling “I’m gonna kill all the Jews” in a shocking antisemitic attack, sources told The Post.

The students who say they’re standing on the right side of history may want to take a step back and look at who is standing with them.
