Politico Details How ‘Biden Inc.’ Peddling Scheme Works

The dam is beginning to break on the Biden family’s businesses and how they have used Joe Biden’s office, aides, and influence to rake huge paydays for the entire family.

Over the weekend, Politico released an investigation revealing that for many years, Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, used the same bookkeeper. He also shared a personal attorney with his brother, Jim. Additionally, when the president’s brother wanted to gather information about one of Hunter’s business associates in China, who cut checks to several family members, he enlisted the former head of Joe Biden’s Secret Service detail to conduct the investigation.

The outlet connected the dots on the presidential family’s organization in a must-read investigation into years of potential corruption.

Since 2019, Joe Biden has repeatedly distanced himself from his family’s business dealings, saying that he has never so much as discussed them with his relatives or with anyone else. But House impeachment inquiry interviews, public records and emails reviewed by POLITICO show that members of his inner circle were regularly enmeshed in those dealings: Many of the president’s closest staffers and advisers have doubled as his relatives’ business associates, both during and after their stints working for the man at the center of the Biden family orbit.

Those overlaps reflect an all-in-the family approach to business and politicking that dates back a half-century to the president’s first Senate bid, run primarily by his parents and siblings. Since then, his political patrons have at times forged business ties with his relatives, who in turn have converted some of their business partners into campaign supporters. And over a lifetime in public life, some of the president’s aides have taken on roles as surrogate members of the tight-knit Biden clan.

As Jim and Hunter Biden’s foreign dealings have caused controversy and several of their business partners have been convicted of federal fraud and corruption crimes in recent years, any potential links between their business dealings and the president have come in for renewed scrutiny.

To allay concerns about any intermingling of their affairs, the Bidens have said that they observe strict interpersonal firewalls to avoid discussing business among themselves.

But with so many former and current aides in the mix — and with the surfacing of private communications in which Jim and Hunter Biden suggest they represent their powerful relative in business matters — onlookers are forced to take family members at their word that those firewalls always held.

Last fall, the House Oversight Committee released evidence showing that, despite his claims otherwise, Joe Biden has been involved in his family’s influence-peddling schemes.

In December, while investigating James Biden, the committee also revealed that the president received a direct payment from his brother.

“Today, the House Oversight Committee is releasing subpoenaed bank records that show Hunter Biden’s business entity, Owasco PC, made direct monthly payments to Joe Biden,” the Kentucky congressman says in a newly released video on Twitter. “This wasn’t a payment from Hunter Biden’s personal account but an account for his corporation that received payments from China and other shady corners of the world.”

“Payments from Hunter’s business entity to Joe Biden are now part of a pattern revealing Joe Biden knew about, participated in and benefited from his family’s influence peddling schemes.”

Much of the details about “Biden, Inc.” were revealed in the infamous “laptop from Hell,” Hunter Biden’s forgotten laptop containing loads of evidence pointing to the presidential son’s alleged corruption and lawbreaking.

Initially, Democrats, including Joe Biden himself, claimed that the laptop was “Russian disinformation,” but last week, during Hunter’s gun charges trial, the laptop was confirmed as real.

The New York Post, which first revealed the laptop in 2020 and was censored on social media because of it, rubbed the media’s nose in the revelation.

The newspaper wrote, “Video clips of Democrats and legacy media journalists dismissing The Post’s scoop on Hunter Biden’s foreign influence-peddling as “Russian disinformation” went viral on Wednesday after the FBI confirmed during the first son’s Delaware criminal trial the laptop containing evidence of dirty deeds was authentic.

Network anchors and contributors, ex-US intelligence officials, Democrats in Congress — and then-candidate Joe Biden himself — all denied the accuracy of the report on the contents of the so-called “laptop from hell” in October 2020.

But in Wilmington federal court on Tuesday, FBI Special Agent Erika Jensen verified that the laptop — which contains emails revealing the first son’s involvement of his father in foreign business deals that netted the first family millions — belonged to Hunter Biden and had not been tampered with.”
