By On Monday, the Justice Department released a disturbing letter written by Ryan Wesley Routh, the man accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
The letter was obtained by the DOJ from a witness who reported receiving it inside a box delivered by Routh months before the assassination attempt. Authorities stated that the witness only opened the box after learning that Routh was a suspect in the attack.
Inside, the box contained several handwritten letters, ammunition, and other items. One of the letters, addressed “Dear World,” admitted to preplanning the assassination attempt.
The New York Post writes that the chilling letter calls for more violence and offers a reward to anyone who can “complete the job.”
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, allegedly dropped the note — addressed “To the World” — in a box at an unnamed person’s home in the months before the foiled assassination attempt at the West Palm Beach golf course on Sept. 15, federal prosecutors said in a court filing.
“This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you,” the letter read.
“I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job.”
“Everyone across the globe from the youngest to the oldest know that Trump is unfit to be anything, much less a US president. US presidents must at bare minimum embody the moral fabric that is America and be kind, caring and selfless and always stand for humanity,” the letter read.
According to Fox News, investigators also found a book Routh authored in 2023, titled “Ukraine’s Unwinnable War: The Fatal Flaw of Democracy, World Abandonment and the Global Citizen-Taiwan, Afghanistan, North Korea, WWIII and the End of Humanity.” The book also discusses a Trump assassination and encourages Iran to carry it out.
Over the summer, federal authorities revealed that Iran had begun targeting Trump for assassination.
The Biden administration’s choice to release the letter was almost immediately criticized as unnecessary by Merrick Garland’s predecessor, the news channel reported.
Former Attorney General William Barr said he was “dumbfounded” that the Justice Department released a chilling letter. He claimed the decision “rash” and serving no purpose “other than to risk inciting further violence.”
“I was dumbfounded that the DOJ made public this morning the contents of the letter that, Ryan Routh, left with an acquaintance prior to the attempted assassination of former President Trump,” Barr said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
Barr served during both the Trump and George H. W. Bush administrations,, and continued by noting that the “DOJ had more than enough evidence to have Routh detained pending trial, without publicizing these details.”
“Even if DOJ thought it important to provide the letter to the court, it could have redacted inflammatory material or arranged to have the letter submitted under seal. It was rash to put out this letter in the midst of an election during which two attempts on the life of President Trump had been made,” Barr said.
“It served no purpose other than to risk inciting further violence,” he added.
Routh’s letter threatening to kill Trump over Ukraine comes as Joe Biden has flown Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy to a crucial swing state to allow him to, in effect, campaign for Kamala Harris.
Zelenskyy just essentially endorsed Kamala in Pennsylvania while with Josh Shapiro autographing ammunition.
He called Trump and Vance “radical”. He also said Trump has no idea how to end the war.

During an interview, the Ukrainian leader said that Trump did not know how to stop the war and called JD Vance a “radical.”
