The Never Trumpers are getting more and more desperate as the former president rises in the polls, and there may be no one in politics more desperate, for attention at least, than Liz Cheney.

Earlier in the week, the daughter of the former vice president and self-declared Trump nemesis made an announcement that shocked absolutely no one.

The former Republican congresswoman from Wyoming is voting for Kamala Harris, writes CNN.

“I think it is crucially important for people to recognize, not only is what I just said about the danger that Trump poses something that should prevent people from voting for him, but I don’t believe that we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states,” Cheney said.

“And as a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this, and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris,” she continued.

The Harris campaign highlighted Cheney’s endorsement Wednesday night and pointed to other Republicans who have backed her, including former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger and former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan.

“The Vice President is proud to have earned Congresswoman Cheney’s vote. She is a patriot who loves this country and puts our democracy and our Constitution first,” campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement.

A source close to Cheney said that she made the announcement in North Carolina specifically because it is a battleground state. I’m sure there were dozens of voters in the Tar Heel state waiting with bated, wondering if the former co-chairperson of the January 6 Committee would vote for Trump or Harris.

“The Vice President is proud to have earned Congresswoman Cheney’s vote. She is a patriot who loves this country and puts our democracy and our Constitution first,” Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote, according to ABC News. “As she noted in her powerful remarks, this election is a choice between the fundamental threat Donald Trump poses to our democracy and a leader who will stand up for our freedoms and the rule of law in Vice President Harris.”

Cheney has not always been a fan of Kamala Harris. In 2020, she criticized Biden for picking a radical liberal as his running mate.

The Democrats have come a long way regarding the Cheney family over the past two decades. In 2007, liberals in the House of Representatives tried to impeach Dick Cheney over the Iraq War, claiming he lied about WMD in Iraq and fabricated a threat about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda.

Answering questions from the audience at a campaign event in Mesa, Arizona, J.D. Vance laid into Liz Cheney for backing Harris.

A very good thing that I could say about the next Presidency of Donald J. Trump is that he’s going to make sure that people like Liz Cheney are laughed out of the Oval Office instead of rewarded,” Vance said.

Cheney voted to impeach Trump after what she referred to as the “insurrection” of January 6, 2021, and served as vice chair of the House select committee that investigated the Capitol attack. Her outspoken criticism of Trump led to significant backlash from him and other Republicans, culminating in her censure by the Republican National Committee.

Over the past year, Cheney has raked in cash as the liberals’ favorite Republican who hates Republicans.
