Ella Emhoff, the 26-year-old stepdaughter of former presidential candidate Kamala Harris, has once again stepped into the public spotlight — this time through a nearly six-and-a-half-minute TikTok video that quickly drew both sympathy and criticism.
Wearing an orange hat emblazoned with the phrase “Take off your clothes,” Emhoff told her 19,000 viewers that she has been struggling with what she described as “climate anxiety.” “I think everything with the environment is really f–king getting to me, and it is — I experience a lot of climate anxiety, like all of us do,” she said. She began with a nervous laugh, but then turned somber: “It’s not funny. I do, it’s just one of those things — it’s not funny but you just nervous laugh about it because it’s scary. It is.”

Her frustrations extended beyond climate change. “Like I think everyone, I feel disgust at what’s going on in the world around genocides, the loss of rights, the loss of healthcare, the just general fear that everyone has surrounding affordability, their lives, their livelihood, like, everything. It’s just, it feels so big,” she said. Acknowledging her own sense of helplessness, she added: “Besides the small things we can do and pushing for change and fighting and protesting, it’s really hard not to sit in those moments where it just feels so heavy. So I’ve definitely been feeling that.”
It’s not the first time Kamala’s stepdaughter has parroted Hamas talking points about Israel.
Her remarks revive memories of an earlier controversy. In November 2023, the New Conservative Post reported that Emhoff, then 24, promoted a fundraiser on Instagram for the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, raising more than $7.8 million for “urgent relief for Gaza’s children.” That effort, while praised by some activists, was sharply condemned by others for omitting any mention of Israeli children killed in the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023 — attacks that left 1,400 Israelis dead.
Representative Jeff Van Drew, a Republican from New Jersey and a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, called the fundraiser “of tremendous concern” and “abhorrent.” “To be honest with you, I am kind of stunned by it. It’s disturbing to the maximum degree,” he told reporters.
The episode unfolded amid broader debates over pro-Palestinian rhetoric. Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, defended the chant “From the river to the sea” in a November 2023 post on Twitter, calling it “an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate.” The Anti-Defamation League, however, had denounced the phrase in 2020 as “code for eradicating the State of Israel and its millions of Jews.” Nathan Sales, a former State Department counterterrorism official, echoed that view, telling Fox News the slogan represented “exterminationist rhetoric” aimed at the “extermination of the Jewish state.”
Critics seized on the controversy as evidence of hypocrisy within Democratic circles. Even liberal comedian Bill Maher, in an interview with NBC News, described what he saw as a growing “insanity” on the left, accusing Democrats of indulging in double standards.
Emhoff’s TikTok confessional, combined with her earlier fundraising campaign, underscores how insane the Democratic base has become over the past couple of years and reveals why the party has moved hard left under Trump. Not only has the party nominated a socialist to lead the country’s financial capital, Democrats in Congress recently voted to block a weapons sale to Israel to fight Hamas while Bernie Sanders refused to cast any blame on the terrorist group for the alleged hunger problems occurring in Gaza.
Q: "Would you say Hamas has some culpability in people starving?"
BERNIE: "No."

Hamas has been accused of stealing food aid provided by Israel and other Western nations to the Palestinians.
