The sister of Dolly Parton, Freida Parton, is reassuring fans after a wave of concern followed her social media call for prayers regarding the beloved singer’s health, according to Fox News.

Fans were devastated, fearing the American icon might be on her way out.

Freida took to Facebook to clarify her intentions, explaining that her earlier plea had been misunderstood. “I want to clear something up. I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly,” she wrote. “She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”

The clarification came after Freida’s initial post, in which she shared that she had spent a restless night praying for her famous sibling. “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” she wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately.” Freida urged supporters to join her in faith, adding, “I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

The messages come less than two weeks after Dolly, 79, announced that she would postpone her Las Vegas residency due to medical advice. “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” she said on September 28. “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”

The six-show engagement at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was to close out the year. Ever the humorist, Dolly lightened the announcement with a wink to her long-running jokes about cosmetic work: “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.” Still, she emphasized her dedication to her craft. “In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.”

She assured fans that her spirit remains unbroken. “You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” she said, promising to return once she’s fully ready. “While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say. And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.”

Closing on a hopeful note, the “Jolene” singer added, “He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”

Dolly herself released a video backing up her sister, and she said it in her usual direct style:

Parton’s resilience has long defined her six-decade career, even as she has weathered personal loss and health setbacks. Fans around the world, inspired by her enduring optimism, have flooded social media with messages of support—proving once again that, for Dolly, the love of her audience remains as steady as she is.
