President Donald Trump unleashed a blistering attack on his predecessor Thursday, calling Joe Biden a “criminal” who “should be in jail,” after new details emerged about a secretive Biden-era FBI investigation known as “Arctic Frost.”
The outburst followed a report from Just the News citing former prosecutors and FBI insiders who said the memo authorizing the probe rested on “flimsy rationale” and “scant evidence.” The investigation, launched under FBI Director Chris Wray, examined Trump associates’ alleged involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot and later continued under Special Counsel Jack Smith, appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, according to The Daily Caller.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform to vent his outrage. “He is a CRIMINAL AND SHOULD BE IN JAIL. A MAJOR LOWLIFE AND FAILURE,” Trump wrote, appearing to refer to Biden without naming him directly. “An ugly person, both inside and out! I beat him badly, and love watching him squirm now.”
The president’s remarks came just hours after Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, revealed that Smith’s office had issued 197 subpoenas in connection with the 2020 election investigation—targeting at least 430 Republican individuals and organizations. Grassley argued the wide-ranging inquiry was political in nature, saying, “Arctic Frost was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus.”
He added: “Contrary to what Smith has said publicly, this was clearly a fishing expedition.”
Earlier disclosures from Grassley’s office indicated that subpoenas in the case sought cellphone data from nine Republican lawmakers. Among them was Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who responded by demanding the impeachment of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg. The judge, Cruz said, “approved an order preventing AT&T from alerting me to a subpoena for my own phone records.”
Trump’s latest post followed a Wednesday tirade in which he labeled participants in the “Arctic Frost” probe a “disgrace to humanity” and called Smith himself a “criminal.”
The revelations mark a new flashpoint in Trump’s escalating feud with the Justice Department—one that he portrays as proof of “weaponized” government power against political opponents, and that his allies in Congress now appear determined to expose.
