Even Barack Obama has gotten sick of the woke madness that has taken over the former president’s party. He joined former aides Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor, calling the wokesters “buzzkills” and saying that Democrats should remember that no one is perfect.
The New York Post has the transcript of the interview: On a new interview with on the “Pod Save America” podcast on Friday, the 44th President said that Democrats have strayed away from a message of equality to “scolding” on social issues.”My family, my kids, work that gives me satisfaction, having fun,” Obama said. “Hell, not being a buzzkill. And sometimes Democrats are.”
“Sometimes people just want to not feel as if they are walking on eggshells, and they want some acknowledgment that life is messy and that all of us, at any given moment, can say things the wrong way, make mistakes,” he added.
“And what works for I think everybody, is the idea of a basic equal treatment and fairness. That’s an argument that’s compatible with progress on social issues and compatible with economic interests,” he said.
“I think where we get into trouble sometimes is where we try to suggest that some groups are more – because they historically have been victimized more – that somehow they have a status that’s different than other people and we’re going around scolding folks if they don’t use exactly the right phrase,” Obama said. “Or that identity politics becomes the principle lens through which we view our various political challenges.”
This is not the first time that Obama has gone after the woke. A few years ago, while visiting the Obama Foundation, he said, “I do get a sense sometimes now among certain young people … that the way of me making change is to be as judgmental as possible about other people and that’s enough. That is not activism, that is not bringing about change. If all you’re doing is casting stones, you are probably not going to get that far.”
He encouraged Democrats to do more than simply spend their time online tweeting and nitpicking every small thing about life.
Barack Obama’s comments come on the trails of another former presidential candidate announcing that she was leaving the Democratic Party because it has become too “woke.”
People reported that former U.S. representative and onetime presidential contender Tulsi Gabbard is leaving the party, accusing it of stoking “anti-white racism” and claiming its leadership is “an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness.”
“Gabbard, 41, made the claims in the debut episode of her new show, The Tulsi Gabbard Show, which was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday and is devoted to her reasoning behind leaving the party.
In a video she said, “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms, hostile to people of faith & spirituality, demonize the police & protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believe in open borders, weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”

For his part, Obama is unwilling to abandon the Democratic Party. NBC News noted that “former President Barack Obama announced Saturday that he will be heading to Georgia and Michigan later this month to support Democratic candidates in the final weeks before the midterm elections.
Events are set for Oct. 28 in Atlanta and Oct. 29 in Detroit, according to a statement from Obama’s office.
‘Given the high stakes of this year’s midterm elections, President Obama wants to do his part to help Democrats win next month,’ the statement read. ‘He looks forward to stumping for candidates up and down the ballot, especially in races and states that will have consequences for the administration of 2024 elections.’
These stops are in addition to Wisconsin, where he’s also scheduled to hold a separate event on Oct. 29 in Milwaukee to help boost Senate candidate Mandela Barnes, a Democrat challenging GOP Sen. Ron Johnson, as well Gov. Tony Evers’ re-election bid. NBC News was first to report Friday the news that Obama would campaign in Wisconsin.”
