House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan has sent a “sweeping request for documents” related to the investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis pertaining to Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the election in Georgia. The Ohio congressman wants all of the records in the case and whether or not she is colluding with the Department of Justice.
Sent just hours ahead of the former president turning himself in to Fulton County authorities for booking at the jail, is expected to surrender at the Fulton County Jail, the letter says that the Judiciary Committee is worried about Willis’s motivation and claims that the investigation threatens “the operations of the federal government.”
The House Judiciary Committee is launching an investigation into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, demanding the prosecutor turn over key information detailing the criminal indictment of former President Donald Trump over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, writes The Washington Examiner.
“Your indictment and prosecution implicate substantial federal interests, and the circumstances surrounding your actions raise serious concerns about whether they are politically motivated,” Jordan wrote. “Given the weighty federal interests at stake, the Committee is conducting oversight of this matter to determine whether any legislative reforms are appropriate or necessary.”
Willis announced the indictment charges earlier this month after conducting a 2 1/2-year investigation into Trump’s efforts to reverse his loss to President Joe Biden in Georgia, a key swing state that helped secure his Electoral College victory. The inquiry focused on five separate actions taken by Trump and the former president’s allies in the weeks following the 2020 election, including phone calls made to Georgia officials to overturn the election results.
The indictment also detailed instances in which Trump and his allies pressured local election officials, made false claims of voter fraud, and concocted a plan to recruit a fake slate of electors to certify a victory for Trump rather than Biden. Eighteen other people were indicted alongside Trump on similar charges, including former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and former Trump adviser John Eastman, among others.

At stake is whether or not Biden’s DOJ pushed the Fulton County District Attorney to level state charges as an effort to double up the charges against the former president and make it “pardon proof.”
“News outlets have reported that your office and Mr. Smith ‘interviewed many of the same witnesses and reviewed much of the same evidence’ in reaching your decision to indict President Trump,” Jordan writes. “The House Committee on the Judiciary thus may investigate whether federal law enforcement agencies or officials were involved in your investigation or indictment.”
The Daily Caller noted that “Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene argues state Republicans could additionally launch a similar investigation into Willis’ conduct, according to CNN. Green has also been pushing the congressional committee to probe the district attorney.
‘I’m going to be talking to (House Judiciary Chair) Jim Jordan, (House Oversight Chair) Jamie Comer, and I’d like to also ask (Speaker) Kevin McCarthy his thoughts on looking at doing an investigation if there is a collaboration or conspiracy of any kind between the Department of Justice and Jack Smith’s special counsel’s office with the state DA’s,’ Greene told CNN. ‘So, I think that could be a place of oversight.’
The indictment leak drew mass criticism across the internet, and Willis later dodged a question, claiming she’s ‘not an expert on clerks’ duties.’”
Similar to how Barack Obama never had any hand in scandals and only “learned about them on the news,” it’s undoubtedly just coincidental that today, Democrats never seem to know how anything works, but the clerical errors and leaked documents always go against their political opponents and help their side.
