By During this week, much of the elite class will be gathering in Davos, Switzerland, to attend the meeting of the World Economic Forum, where they will discuss ways to shape the world in the years to come.
One of the attendees, Joe Biden’s Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, got angry earlier in the week when he was confronted by a reporter who asked him about the size of his carbon footprint.
“What’s the carbon footprint of these events every single year that you come here?” a reporter asked Kerry while the former secretary of state and ex-presidential candidate walked the streets of Davos, Switzerland. The Washington Examiner writes.
“Do you think it’s worth it?” the reporter said. “Peasants pay for your crimes?”
“That’s a stupid question,” Kerry shot back, before a woman walking with him told the reporter to stop and pulled the man back.
“You can’t grab me. You can’t grab us,” the reporter said. “This is a free society, mate. We have freedom of the press.”
The World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos is the annual gathering that brings together influential figures, including political leaders, business executives, and academics, from around the world. During the event, participants engage in panel discussions, workshops, and private sessions to address pressing global issues.
The meeting serves as a platform for in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, such as economic trends, technological advancements, environmental sustainability, and social issues. Experts and leaders share insights and perspectives, fostering a collaborative environment to explore solutions to global challenges.
The panels often reveal creepy ways some of the elite intend to control most of society, and this year was no different. During one panel called “Strategic Outlook: Responsible Consumption” about climate change, the president of Chinese conglomerate Alibaba announced that his company is working on an “individual carbon footprint tracker.”
He said, “We’re developing, through technology, an ability for consumers to measure their own carbon footprint….That’s where they’re traveling, how they are traveling, what are they eating, what are they consuming on the platform.”
It shouldn’t be surprising that a Communist China company would be working on such a “product.” In 2014, China announced its intention to create a “social credit system” that would deploy technology to allow the government to assess the behavior of individuals and entities based on financial transactions, social interactions, and adherence to laws and regulations.
Proponents say the system promotes trustworthiness and accountability, fostering a more responsible and law-abiding society. However, it has faced significant criticism both domestically and internationally, especially in the United States. Critics express concerns about the potential invasion of privacy, as the system collects vast amounts of personal data. They argue that it can lead to social control and limit freedom, with the risk of individuals facing consequences for seemingly minor infractions.
Last year, citing the actions of ‘dictator’ Trudeau in Canada, who appeared to deploy a similar system against protestors, conservatives in Utah proposed a ban on such a system in the Beehive State.
As for John Kerry, this will be the last year he will attend the WEF meeting as Biden’s special climate change ambassador. CNN reported that the failed Democratic nominee for president and Secretary of State under Barack Obama will be stepping down from the position this spring.
“Kerry is leaving the position after three years at the helm of US climate diplomacy under the Biden administration. The source close to Kerry said he will still attend the World Economic Forum in January and is expected to attend the Munich Security Conference in February.
The 80-year-old former secretary of state and Democratic nominee for president led US negotiations at three international climate summits, the most recent of which was held in Dubai.
Kerry specifically prioritized restarting international climate talks between the US and China, and was key in negotiating the November Sunnylands agreement, a wide-ranging climate agreement between the two countries before COP28.”
In an expose looking into what exactly Kerry has been doing over the past three years, The Boston Herald revealed that the “climate czar John Kerry doles out six-figure salaries to all but one lone “policy analyst” in his office who just misses the lofty mark in the first public records release to the Herald from the notoriously secretive presidential envoy.
It’s a rare glimpse into Kerry’s fiefdom that hits up taxpayers for $4.3 million in pay per year, according to records obtained using the Freedom of Information Act.
Kerry, however, does not reveal the names of anyone on his staff and redacts the titles of eight top aides paid up to $186,680 a year.”
Earlier in the year, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer announced that his committee had launched an investigation into Kerry’s meetings with environmental activist organizations.
His office recently announced, without much acknowledgment from the Biden administration or the press, that the United States had joined over 50 other nations in an effort to phase out coal power plants by 2030.
It remains unclear if the proposal was legally binding, as treaties are required to be ratified by the United States Senate.
