It’s not very often that James Carville will endorse a Trump for anything, but recently the longtime Democratic political operative announced he’s backing Lara Trump as the new co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
“Please put Lara Trump over there,” Carville told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki on Monday. “Please steal every dollar you can get. Every one of these Republican state parties — Michigan, Arizona, all over the country — are falling apart, fighting with each other, underfunded.”
“We have the advantage, Jen,” he said. “Press, press, press, press. Now.”
“These people want to be stolen from,” Carville said of Trump’s supporters. “That’s the long and short of it. The people that give Trump money or the RNC money are begging to be stolen from. And Trump is going to accommodate them. They’re very blunt and very upfront about what they doing.”
Mediate noted that “on multiple occasions in recent days, Lara Trump has flat out said the RNC will dedicate ‘every single penny’ of its funds to former President Trump. Typically, the RNC assists not just the presidential candidate, but others in close races down the ballot. Carville believes the rest of the ticket will get the shaft from the RNC if Lara Trump becomes co-chair.”
“I know a lot of Republicans, friends of mine from my days in Washington, who think that Trump is siphoning off all of the money from the congressional candidates, the Senate candidates, the gubernatorial candidates,” Carville said. “And you know something? They’re right. Please put Lara Trump over there! Please steal every dollar you can get!”

The former president threw his weight behind his daughter for RNC co-chair earlier in the month. “Lara is an extremely talented communicator and is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for,” Trump said. “She has told me she wants to accept this challenge and would be GREAT!”
Carville also recently shared his thoughts about the rising antisemitism growing in the Democratic Party and discussed Rashida Tlaib’s called on Michigan Democrats to vote against Biden in Michigan’s Tuesday primary to protest Biden’s support for Israel.
Anchor Jim Acosta asked if the vote was going to have much of an sway on Biden’s future.
“I have to see, but it did look like the early vote was impressive. Now, they have a good state party there, the UAW, the unions are very organized, so that may not be telling us much. I think we just kinda have to wait until they count the ballots tonight and see what it does and make a determination. But regardless of what happens, this Gaza thing is really tearing the Democratic Party, I don’t want to say tearing apart, but it certainly, there are certainly divisions within the party, and a lot of people just don‘t like this,” he said during the media appearance.
During the segment with Carville, MSNBC correspondent Yasmin Vossoughian provided a glimpse into her discussion with Michigan Democrats, revealing widespread dissatisfaction with President Biden. The primary source of discontent centers on his management of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
“Biden has a problem, Alex, in Michigan with the voters that I’ve been speaking to,” Vossoughian told anchor Alex Witt. “These are all folks that voted for Biden in 2020. They have committed to voting ‘uncommitted’ in the Michigan primary next Tuesday, and two of them are very much on the fence in voting for him for reelection November. The other two absolutely will not be voting for him. They are angry about Gaza, they are angry he has not called for a permanent ceasefire as of yet, and they are angry that he has not come through on the promises he made when he was running for president back in 2020.”
Biden’s most recent statement about the unfolding crisis came while he was eating ice cream with Seth Meyers before taping an interview with the “Late Show with Seth Meyers.” The president’s team hoped that the appearance would dispel notions that the president is “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
Biden has thus far refused to take a cognition test like Trump did during his term.
