Earlier this week, MSNBC host Jen Psaki received laughs on social media after praising second gentleman Doug Emhoff for “reshaping the perception of masculinity,” despite recent reports revealing that Emhoff impregnated his child’s nanny during his first marriage. The comment came during an interview on Psaki’s show, Inside with Jen Psaki, reported The New York Post.

Psaki, the former White House press secretary, sat down with Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, for a 15-minute conversation that touched on his role as the first second gentleman and his partnership with Harris. About halfway through the interview, Psaki highlighted how Emhoff’s position had “reshaped the perception of masculinity.”

In response, Emhoff spoke about his relationship with Harris, emphasizing the importance of mutual support in their marriage. “With Kamala and I, it’s mutual. We support each other. We have each other’s back,” he said. He went on to champion issues like pay equity, child care, and family leave, adding, “When we lift up women [and] support women… women should not be less than.”

While Psaki’s praise of Emhoff was intended to highlight his advocacy for gender equality, social media users quickly pointed out the irony, given the recent controversy surrounding his personal life. Critics mocked the portrayal of Kamala’s husband as a progressive, masculine figure in light of the news that Emhoff impregnating a nanny led his first wife to divorce him.

Now, just a few days after the interview, The Daily Mail writes that the bastion of manhood for Democrats allegedly used to beat his girlfriend.

The Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, 59, allegedly struck the woman in the face so hard she spun around, while waiting in a valet line late at night after a May 2012 Cannes Film Festival event in France.

One of her friends told DailyMail.com that the woman called him immediately after the incident, sobbing in her cab, and described the alleged assault.

DailyMail.com is not naming the woman, who is a successful New York attorney, but will refer to her by the pseudonym ‘Jane’.

A second friend said Jane, who had been dating Emhoff for three months, also told her about the alleged violence at the time.

A third friend told DailyMail.com that Jane first told her in 2014 that she had dated Emhoff, and recounted the full story of his alleged abuse in 2018, when then senator Harris was in the news after grilling Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a Senate hearing over sexual assault allegations.

The recent claims of misconduct come just one month after reports surfaced alleging that Doug Emhoff, 16 years ago, had an affair with his family’s nanny, Najen Naylor, who was also his children’s grade school teacher. The affair occurred during his first marriage to the mother of his two children.

Emhoff has acknowledged the infidelity during his previous marriage. According to The Daily Mail, several friends of Emhoff’s ex-partner, Jane, claim she shared an incident from her three-month relationship with Emhoff in which he admitted to impregnating his nanny.

According to the newspaper account, Emhoff purportedly confessed to “Jane” that he gave the former nanny a settlement of nearly $80,000 and forced her to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

That’s who Democrats believe should be the new face of masculinity.
