By It’s always better to judge Democrats by what they do rather than what they say. In the all-important battleground state of Pennsylvania, the Democratic Senator appears to be acknowledging that Kamala Harris is in deep trouble.
Salena Zito, who rose to fame in 2016 for her reporting on the Keystone State, recently noted that Senator Bob Casey has changed directions in his effort to maintain his place in Washington.
She writes that the best illustration of exactly how it is going lies in a new ad for Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), the Scranton Democrat who has held the seat for 18 years, that shows a married couple, Marygrace and Joe, with different political affiliations who claim their only political common ground is Casey.
“On politics, we just don’t agree — except for Bob Casey. He’s independent. That’s right! Casey’s leading the effort to stop corporate greedflation and price gouging. Casey bucked Biden to protect fracking, and he sided with Trump to end NAFTA and put tariffs on China to stop them from cheating,” the ad says.

The first question that comes to mind as a reporter is how the Harris campaign feels about this new ad. The second question would be how Harris donors feel about their money being spent to promote Trump.
The answer to her first question is likely one of fury. According to reports on social media, the Harris campaign is coming unglued and she’s striking out against her staff for her terrible decision making.
As things change, they stay the same for Kamala Harris apparently.

The latest source of drama comes from the vice president’s choice of skipping one of the most famous traditions in American politics–the Al Smith dinner for Catholic charities.
In September, New Conservative Post noted that “the vice president will not be attending the 2024 Al Smith charity dinner in New York, marking a significant departure from a longstanding tradition followed by major presidential candidates. Instead of attending the high-profile event, Harris will focus on intensifying her campaign efforts in critical battleground states, with Election Day just three weeks away.
The Al Smith Dinner, an annual fundraiser benefiting Catholic Charities, is widely known for its spirit of collegiality, often providing a rare moment of levity during election seasons. Candidates from both major political parties typically share the stage, exchanging light-hearted jokes while raising funds for charitable causes. Despite the tradition, Harris’ campaign has prioritized her presence in key states likely to decide the 2024 election. A campaign official, speaking anonymously, confirmed this strategy to CNN.
The New York Post called Harris’ refusal to attend the dinner “pathetic,” saying it “seems Kamala Harris is so afraid of having to be spontaneous in public that’s she’s skipping this year’s Al Smith dinner on Oct. 17.
A charity event that raises millions for the city’s unfortunate, the dinner has hosted the major-party rivals every four years (with just two exceptions) since 1960, when Richard Nixon dared to join John Kennedy, the first Catholic presidential nominee since Al Smith himself, on Catholic ‘turf.’”
Instead of simply choosing to not go, however, Harris decided to do what she’s best at: read a cringeworthy script that leaves the audience wincing by sending a video to be played at the event

As the post pointed out, liberal comedian Jim Gaffigan “repeatedly took shots at the Democratic nominee during Thursday night’s glitzy event in Manhattan after Harris became the first presidential candidate in 40 years to skip the light-hearted Catholic charity bash.
“You know, this event has been referred to as the Catholic Met Gala. Twenty-two percent of Americans identify as Catholic. Catholics will be a key demographic in every battleground state. I’m sorry, why is Vice President Harris not here?” the jokester said as he emceed the charity dinner, detailed The New York Post.
