Could The Hollywood Left Abandon Democrats?

The disastrous wildfire that has engulfed the Los Angeles area, tearing through Pacific Palisades, has destroyed some of the homes of the Hollywood elite. By nightfall on Wednesday, the blaze had consumed over 15,800 acres, with no containment in sight, leaving the affluent coastal community in shock.

Among those hardest hit were celebrities such as Billy Crystal, Anna Faris, John Goodman, Anthony Hopkins, Eugene Levy, and Miles Teller, who lost their homes, according to reports from Page Six and social media updates. Actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, who had recently attended the Golden Globes, confirmed their home was destroyed. Reality stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt shared a heartbreaking Instagram post of their son’s burned bed, which had taken on a haunting, heart-like shape.

The fate of other iconic properties remained uncertain, according to Wrap Pro. Steven Spielberg’s mansion on Amalfi Drive was among those at risk. A spokesperson for the acclaimed filmmaker confirmed he was on the East Coast during the disaster.

Hollywood ground to a halt in response to the crisis. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences postponed Oscar nomination voting, while events like the Critics Choice Awards and the premiere of Pamela Anderson’s “The Last Showgirl” were delayed or canceled. The Palisades Village shopping center, a hub for upscale boutiques and restaurants, was reduced to rubble.

Firefighters and residents faced an uphill battle against the rapidly advancing flames, which spread quickly after igniting Tuesday morning. Aerial water drops proved ineffective against the relentless winds, leaving some residents with only minutes to flee their homes.

As the disaster unfolded, criticism mounted over the city’s readiness to handle such crises. Despite attempts by local news anchors to hide the terrible response from Democrats in charge, reports of empty fire hydrants and recent budget cuts to the Los Angeles Fire Department sparked debates about local leadership from some of the most liberal Californians around.

Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong publicly criticized Mayor Karen Bass, questioning firefighting efforts and pointing to the Democratic competence problem.

Billy Crystal, who lost the home he had lived in for 45 years, expressed his heartbreak. “Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy,” the actor’s statement read.

“Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”

“We pray for the safety of the firefighters and first responders,” Crystal’s statement continued. “The Pacific Palisades is a resilient community of amazing people and we know in time it will rise again. It is our home.”

As the wildfire continued to rage and the California’s leftwing bureaucracy undoubtedly slowed down the rebuilding effort, some have wondered if the Hollywood left, which almost constantly barrages America with its opinions on politics, will be self-reflective about the policies they have pushed on everyone else for years.

On commentator, Adam Carolla, thinks they will.

One star has already made his voice heard. Actor Zachary Levi has some already saying he should run for office after his outspoken criticism of how Democratic politicians have handled the crisis and fire preparation over the past decade.
