Federal immigration officials are criticizing Minnesota leaders after Tim Walz granted a pardon to Tou Lue Vang, who was convicted in 2005 of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl and is now facing deportation.

The Department of Homeland Security called the decision by Walz “disgusting.” The agency described Vang as “an illegal alien convicted child rapist” and accused the governor and “Minnesota sanctuary politicians” of protecting “criminal illegal aliens.”

Vang pleaded guilty in 2005 under a plea agreement that allowed him to avoid prison time, according to reports. Last month, the Minnesota Board of Pardons approved his pardon request after he submitted a letter expressing remorse. The board also received letters of support from family members and from the victim in the case.

The board is composed of Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson. Officials said the victim’s statement was considered before the pardon was granted.

The media has mostly blacked out the disgusting story to protect Walz.

U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, a Minnesota Republican, criticized the decision in a post on Twitter, saying he was “angry and disgusted at yet another action by our feckless governor that puts violent illegal aliens ahead of innocent Americans.”

A spokesperson for Ellison’s office defended the unanimous decision, saying it followed “an exhaustive process which included a statement of support from the victim, a recommendation to grant the pardon from the Clemency Review Commission, and a large number of community support letters.”

Ellison’s office said the board has rejected pardon requests from three other men convicted of sex crimes who are also facing deportation.

When Vang was first questioned by law enforcement, he reportedly minimized the abuse and attributed it to cultural norms in Thailand. In his pardon letter, however, Vang said he takes full responsibility for his mistakes and is no longer the same person he was at the time of the offense.

Walz, and the other radicals in Minnesota, simply appear to find deporting child rapists worse than the rapes themselves. Remember that next time you hear them yammer on about the Epstein files.
