By Earlier in the week, the southern border reached a significant milestone. With over 12,000 crossing in a single day, the United States saw more enter the country illegally in one 24-hour period than ever before.
The current target for entry remains Lukeville, Arizona, a small border crossing that has seen a massive surge in migrants over the past month.
“So many migrants are crossing from Mexico into the United States around remote Lukeville, Arizona,” reported The Associated Press, “that U.S. officials say they will close the port of entry there so that the operations officials who watch over vehicle and pedestrian traffic going both ways can help Border Patrol agents arrest and process the new arrivals.
Customs and Border Protection announced Friday that the temporary closure of the crossing will start Monday as officials grapple with changing migration routes that have overwhelmed Border Patrol agents stationed there. Arizona’s U.S. senators and governor called planned closure “unacceptable.”
Customs and Border Protection said it is ‘surging all available resources to expeditiously and safely process migrants” and will ‘continue to prioritize our border security mission as necessary in response to this evolving situation.’”
The increase in border incidents has led to law enforcement in the area to complain that the surge is taking them away from stopping violent crime, but that didn’t prevent Secretary of State Alejandro Mayorkas from saying the quiet part out loud: this is what Democratic leaders want, which is why they refuse to trade with House Republicans who have offered border security for Ukraine funding.
In an interview Wednesday, writes Hot Air, DHS Secretary Mayorkas claimed that the border security measures congressional Republicans want to put into a foreign aid bill are “violence to our fundamental values.” What are these security measures that are so offensive to the man who lies that the southern border is closed and secured? They are “building a border wall, increasing the number of Border Patrol agents, limiting asylum, and narrowing Biden’s power to parole illegal immigrants.”
Mayorkas claims that Biden has “addressed” the problem of illegal immigration. What would the Biden border crisis look like if he hadn’t addressed the problem? I’d be interested to know how he has addressed it. He continues to turn his back on the problem. He refuses requests from border states and sanctuary cities for more federal aid and resources. There is not enough personnel on the border. Border Patrol agents are being pulled off doing their jobs and instead are assigned to help process the illegal immigrants.
Mayorkas and Biden and everyone else who says the border is secure and closed are lying to Americans. They got away with it for a while because the media (except Fox News) was not covering the Biden border crisis. Now that the problem is so horrible and out of control, the media has been forced to report on it. It is no longer possible for anyone to ignore it.

In November, Republicans in the House failed to impeach Mayorkas for his incompetence, but that has not stopped some from trying to force the Secretary of Homeland Security to do his job.
Earlier in the week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who pushed the failed impeachment for the Mayorkas in November, recently pulled her second attempt at forcing the issue earlier just minutes before a procedural vote.
Greene told The Hill that “she canceled the vote after meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.), who “guaranteed that we’ll be moving forward with impeachment” for Mayorkas.
‘My articles of impeachment are in the Homeland Committee, we’ll be picking those up and moving,’ she told reporters.
“There was no guarantee on impeachment until today, so I’m satisfied with that,” she added.
The Georgia Republican would not disclose the timeline for proceeding with impeaching Mayorkas, saying they decided not to publicly share it, but said it would happen ‘very soon.’”
She may soon get support from Democrats on her effort to hold Mayorkas accountable for his failure.
Senator John Fetterman defended House efforts to add border security to the Ukraine spending bill. “I hope Democrats can understand that it isn’t xenophobic to be concerned about the border,” Fetterman said to Politico. “It’s a reasonable conversation, and Democrats should engage.”
“Honestly, it’s astonishing. And this isn’t a Fox News kind of statistic. This is the government’s,” he continued. “You essentially have Pittsburgh showing up there at the border.”
The Pennsylvania Senator, according to the outlet, “urged Democrats to acknowledge the large numbers of migrants streaming across the southern border. He cited the nearly 270,000 border encounters that U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported in September.
His remarks come as Democrats increasingly stiff-arm the border talks for skewing too far toward GOP demands — and they’re even more striking given his status as a longtime vocal advocate for immigrants. His wife, Gisele Fetterman, was a so-called “Dreamer” who came to the U.S. from Brazil when she was seven years old, a story he highlighted in a video during his 2022 Senate primary. (She became a citizen in 2009.)”
Although he would not offer specifics about what concessions he’d make with Republicans over the border, he did say that he would not support any bill that puts “Dreamers” in “harm’s way.”
